Euro 2024 day 3 sees England and Netherlands win

England and Netherlands win on Day 3 of Euro 2024. The tournament favorites both started their campaigns with wins over Serbia and Poland. In the other game played on Day 3, Slovenia held Denmark to a 1:1 draw.

 

The day started by 2pm with the Poland vs Netherlands game in Hamburg. Buksa handed the Poles the lead on 16 minutes. They didn’t hold on for long, as Cody Gakpo equalized for the Dutch on 29 minutes to end the 1st half all square at 1:1. Late in the second half, super sub Wout Weghorst won the game for the Netherlands. The former Manchester United forward slotted home in the 83rd minute to secure a 2:1 win alongside the 3 points.

 

 

The second game of the day saw Slovenia play out a 1:1 draw with Denmark. Erikson put the Danes ahead in the 17th minute. They held on to this lead until midway through the second half. Janza levelled the score for Slovenia in the 77th minute, ensuring his team will have a share of the spoils.

 

In the final game for Day 3 of Euro 2024, England scraped past Serbia 1:0. The only goal of the game was scored by Jude Bellingham in the first half. Serbia were very resilient and had a couple of chances to level the game. They enjoyed a lot possession and control. They also kept England at bay, restricting them to 3 shots on target the whole game. Slovenia will hope to do better in their next game against Slovenia in Munich.
